EDR rollout plan: the first 90 days, week by week

Most EDR rollouts stall in week six: the pilot went fine, the second ring produced a flood of alerts nobody owned, and the project quietly became "phase 2". This plan is built to avoid that week.

Before day one

  • Inventory the estate honestly. Count endpoints by OS and version, including the ones nobody admits to: build servers, kiosks, the finance team's Windows 7 box. The agent will not run on some of them, and you want to know which now.
  • Name the owners. One person owns the deployment, one owns alert triage, one owns exceptions. Three names, written down.
